To my surprise, that light did not come in the form of a profound revelation but rather through the simple act of writing with a pen on paper. My First Encounter with Journaling: When Pen Met Paper… Reluctantly

My initial feelings toward journaling were a blend of skepticism and curiosity. “Could pouring thoughts on paper genuinely make a difference?” I often would sit there looking at blank pages, not knowing what to write. The blank page seemed so intimidating; it was like the paper had a certain level of expectation from me. It needed to be perfect and legible, with every word spelt correctly, with proper grammar, etc….. by gully. What if someone read it?

I would sit there and overthink the process. All the swirling thoughts that were up in this crazy head of mine would suddenly come to a screeching halt! It was like they were a scared little puppy hiding behind the couch until that scary thing disappeared. I first started with writing bullet points, and then I tried recording my journal entry instead of writing it, digital journals were the next thing as it was convenient.

Finding the Right Medium: From Keyboards to Quills – My Quest for the Perfect Fit

Mobile recording and Digital journals offered convenience and a vast canvas, yet traditional journals provided a tactile, intimate connection. Mornings, I presented a fresh start, evenings a reflection. I flirted with them all, seeking my rhythm. It became apparent that the raw, uninhibited pen scribbles on paper resonated most deeply under the muted light of my bedside lamp. Eventually, I let go of the thoughts of perfectionism in my journal, realizing that there really is no right or wrong way to journal and who cares if the pages aren’t perfect really. But in the end, I found a combination of all three methods is what kept me on track!

Patterns were noticed in everyday occurrences, with a recurring emotional trigger being the feeling of being overwhelmed, often associated with taking on too many responsibilities. However, it is important to note that the entries in my journal documented my resilience as I faced challenges directly.
